Helping you, help pollinators.

What is a pollinator garden?

A pollinator garden is a space designed and planted with pollinators in mind. Offering a wide variety of flowers, and plants, these gardens promote the visiting of pollinators. Pollinators are responsible for 1 out of 3 bites of food we take each day!

We’ve partnered with the City of Kitchener and Bee City Kitchener to give you the knowledge you need to better understand pollinators and their importance in our eco-system. Bee City Kitchener is working towards promoting the conservation of pollinators through habitat creation and restoration, fostering community awareness about native pollinators and to celebrate pollinators.

Why is it important?

Pollinators have a few basic requirements: food, shelter for nesting, and protection from pesticides. Unfortunately, cities and other urban settings haven’t been designed and built to support the needs of pollinators. That's why it is up to us to create pollinator gardens, places in our cities that insects and birds can make urban areas happier and healthier places for everyone to live.
